Leaning Tower of Pisa

Pisa was on our list of must-see sites in Italy. Hmmm...... what can i say about it? You have to really visit it to feel. The park and other amazing sites surrounding the Leaning Tower made this tourist spot a lovely place.

Blue blue sky! It was a nice sunny day so everything was great. Here's the Baptistery, Duomo and also the Leaning Tower! This place was a lot bigger than I thought it would be.

The roped off grass area in front was extremely green and was a good contrast to the whitish facade of the church and tower.

The soil in this area was very soft and the grass area was quite wet.

Fun to take the typical touristy photos pushing the tower. Of course when I was there, a lot of people also either try to push, pull, and hold on to the tower from far.

The tower was so impressive and yes, it's leaning! It really deserves to be one of the World' s Seven Wonders!

Why the Tower leans?

According to my tour leader, the towers tilt began during construction, caused by inadequate foundations on one side, as the ground was too soft to support the structures weight.

The tower has eight stories, including the chamber for the bells. It is constructed of white marble and is pretty spectacular to look at from an architectural perspective.

Souvenir street. Usually people will only shop after visiting the Leaning Tower and thus, do not buy from the first few stalls as their price are higher than the last few stalls.
