Chinese New Year won't be complete without reunion dinners. This is an important part of the Chinese traditions that helps keep the family bonded.
This year I did not help in the kitchen because of my big stomach and I can hardly stand for more than 15 minutes. However, I did snap some photos when my mom-in-law was preparing the delicious typical CNY dishes.
Giant prawns. My favourite!
Abalone. Used to make soup and to cook with the sea cucumber.
Double-boiling the homemade "Buddha Jump Over the Wall"
Braised sea cucumber with abalone and mushroom
Stewed Hakka Fried Pork Belly With Black Fungus
Steamed prawn with ginger and wine. Really love my mom-in-law's recipe. Best steamed prawn ever!
Homemade "Buddha Jump Over the Wall" served!!! Super tasty!
My first Yee Sang for the year! Huat ar!
As the year of the dragon begins, let us spread our love to everyone surrounding us.
Wish you all Gong Xi Fa Cai and may this dragon year bring good health, prosperity and happiness \(^•^)/

Yummy dishes!!! Super mouthwatering but can you consume alcohol? Just curious.
ReplyDeleteBeverly's Secret: I did consume a little bit of alcohol, but all were cooked with chicken or prawns. It's ok to consume once in a while.
ReplyDeletewat wine your mother in law use for the steam prawn?
ReplyDeleteAgnes Sim: She used shaoxing and ginger wine. Really love it :)
